JULIAN SAS

30th Anniversary Tour 2024

©Johan Breij

Growing up in a small town in the Dutch province of Gelderland, Julian Sas spent the first years of his life on a boat on the river, where he developed a close connection to the freedom of the water, which later strongly influenced his music. His unmistakable sound, a skillful blend of original compositions and covers of R&B icons, has been in the ranks of the greats for decades and yet is more relevant than ever. Fast guitar riffs dance skillfully with gripping blues solos in the classic trio format: bass, drums and guitar. Absolutely old school and yet at the peak of modern audio technology - equally powerful in sound and differentiated in tone.

Over the years, Julian Sas has been shaped by a wide range of musical influences, including blues, rock, heavy metal, jazz and more. He started playing in bands at the age of 13 and developed into a talented guitarist and singer. At the end of 1994, the young Julian Sas formed his first band. As a member of various bands, accompanist to older American blues legends and, above all, as an up-and-coming talent on the guitar, Julian Sas had by this time already established a reputation as a live act to be seen and, above all, heard.

The Dutch Blueskrant (no. 39) told Sas that people from his home country didn't believe in him at first: "My faith in myself was always very high, while everyone else, except my wife, thought otherwise." Julian Sas and his wife were proved right, because 30 years later, in 2024, Julian Sas is a globally recognized musician with a name and fame and a huge fan base in the Benelux countries, the USA, Germany, Brazil, Great Britain, Eastern Europe and other countries.

De Blueskrant emphasizes Julian Sas' remarkable optimism, which has brought him to where he is today: "It is a pleasure to listen to Julian Sas, admirable how positively he approaches life and knows how to convey this same spirit to others."

The thirtieth anniversary of Julian Sas will be celebrated with his band members Edwin van Huik (bass) and Lars Erik van Elzakker (drums) in the form of an extensive tour with concerts featuring songs from the entire repertoire that this born musician has created in 30 years and on 16 albums. In addition to "Blues for J", Sas will perform songs that are important to him, such as "Blues for the Lost and Found" from the 1999 album For the Lost and Found and "Turpentine Moan" from the 1996 album Where will it end!? Where his journey will end is not in question, because Sas is already writing new songs!
