The rock in the surf – more than 40 years of Boppin' B
Holy moly, really now? 40 years?
For four decades now, this combo has been rocking and rolling length and breadth across Germany and neighboring countries, and is clearly still 1. having fun and 2. not having enough of it for a long time.
Just to put the whole thing into context: in 1985 Boris Becker won Wimbledon for the first time, Commodore introduced the Amiga, Helmut Kohl had been Chancellor for 3 years, Gorbachev became CPSU General Secretary, Live Aid took place in London and Philadelphia at the same time, Lindenstraße went on air, and yes, Boppin'B played their first gig for a school festival project.
Now, 40 years later, the band is celebrating a remarkable anniversary. Remarkable because there is no long break followed by a reunion in their CV. Remarkable because the band is not just an amateur band that occasionally performs at the Schützenfest around the corner. And also remarkable because the musicians have played over 6,000 gigs without a large entourage - DIY galore, so to speak.
40+ years of Boppin'B means 40+ years of rock ‘n’ roll and rockabilly in all its facets, countless stories and experiences – and yet, in their anniversary year, the band's eyes are fixed firmly on the future: The new album “Solid as a rock” was released on September 26, 2025, and the schedule will once again be packed with gigs all over Germany and beyond, each of which is set to be a birthday party celebrating the music, memories, and unforgettable moments that this band has created.
Whether club or festival stage - the infectious energy, the passion and the joy of music that the band radiates is infectious and simply fun.
