Milk for Ulcers Tour 2026
Rolling Stone, GALORE and kulturnews present:
SOPHIE AUSTER – Milk for Ulcers Tour 2026
With her fourth studio album Milk for Ulcers, SOPHIE AUSTER has captivated both audiences and the press alike. Following the successful live premiere in May 2025, the New York singer-songwriter will continue her tour in Germany in May 2026.
“While I was writing and recording my new album, my niece and my brother passed away. My father was diagnosed with cancer. I found out I was pregnant, gave birth to my son Miles, and watched my father die four months later in the house where I grew up,” explains SOPHIE AUSTER , describing the circumstances surrounding the creation of Milk for Ulcers. She notes that the album title came about during a conversation about outdated healing methods. The metaphor reflects the ambivalence of healing: while milk can temporarily soothe pain, it can also worsen ulcers in the long run. The album delves into the difficulty of healing wounds, offering no easy answers, and explores the complexity of loss and grief. It mirrors feelings of defiance, anger, and pain, while also expressing hope and joy – particularly through her experiences as a mother. The final track on the album, Blue Team, is dedicated to her father, Paul Auster. Thankfully, she completed it in time for him to hear it before his death.
In an era dominated by AI algorithms, artificially generated emotions, and fleeting attention spans, SOPHIE AUSTER stands as an artist offering a counterpoint with her music. Her songs, often born from personal loss, contain emotions such as grief and anger in the face of uncontrollable events – emotions that are universal and deeply connective. She creates a contrast to a media world that tends to favor isolation over community, valuing the depth of real human emotion.
SOPHIE AUSTER, daughter of two writers, grew up in a creative environment surrounded by artists and musicians of all disciplines. She discovered her passion for singing at the age of eight and released her first album at sixteen. Two years later, this album was produced by Naïve Records in France and received widespread critical acclaim across Europe, marking the beginning of her touring career.
Early on, AUSTER drew the attention of renowned fashion houses and appeared at exclusive events for Chanel, Dior, and Ferragamo as a model. In 2019, she signed a publishing and record deal with BMG and released her album Next Time. That same year, her single Mexico was featured in John Turturro’s film The Jesus Rolls. Over the course of her career, AUSTER has received numerous awards, including the grand prize of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for her song Little Bird and the honor of Singer of the Year by Cosmopolitan Spain.
