More than half a century has passed since South African keyboardist Manfred Mann founded his Earth Band in 1971. Over the course of this long band history, Manfred Mann and his Earth Band have explored many different musical directions, making it difficult to place this exceptional band into a single genre. Blues rock, jazz rock, progressive rock, and rhythm & blues mark just a few points within the wide musical spectrum in which Manfred Mann’s Earth Band operates.
Following their early albums, international chart success soon followed. Songs such as “Blinded by the Light,” “I Came for You,” and “Davy’s on the Road Again” not only achieved commercial success but also became true classics. It therefore comes as no surprise that the band is well known far beyond circles of music connoisseurs.
In addition to their chart success, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band earned a reputation as an outstanding live band. Since their formation, the group has worked its way up from clubs to prestigious concert halls and continues to tour regularly to thrill audiences with their live performances. Apart from a brief hiatus, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band has been doing exactly that for more than 50 years: captivating audiences time and time again.
Alongside band founder Manfred Mann (keyboards, vocals), founding member Mick Rogers (guitar, vocals) is still part of the line-up. The legendary band is completed by Steve Kinch (bass) and John Lingwood (drums). Since 2011, Robert Hart (vocals) has been the new voice of Manfred Mann’s Earth Band.
